While in Saudi Arabia for a special gathering of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on "Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development," Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of the Pak Saudi Supreme Coordination Council (PSCC) in Riyadh.

The PSCC conference covered topics of shared interest and the strengthening of Pakistan-Saudi Arabian economic ties, according to 24News HD TV.

The PSCC meeting also reviewed the progress on investment during the upcoming visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister to Pakistan. In the meeting, PM Shahbaz Sharif was briefed on the reform agenda of the Saudi government.

The channel sources said that PM Shehbaz Sharif will meet the Saudi Crown Prince during his official visit to Riyadh.

During PM Shehbaz Sharif's ongoing visit to Saudi Arabia, significant discussions are anticipated on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is slated to convene with Krista Leena, the Managing Director of the IMF, as part of his engagements at the World Economic Forum. Additionally, he will hold discussions with the Emir of Kuwait, Saudi ministers, the President of the Islamic Development Bank and the co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The channel also reported that the delegation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) will participate in the WEF meeting under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

The Pakistani delegation headed by the Prime Minister will take advantage of this valuable opportunity to advance its economic and development agenda at the international level with important stakeholders.

The purpose of this meeting is to work together with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to transform bilateral relations into a strategic economic partnership.

The purpose of the recent visit of the Saudi delegation to Pakistan is to promote investment in agriculture, energy, mining, tourism and other important sectors in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

PM Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh yesterday to participate in WEF meeting being held from April 28-29. About 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia will participate in the Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development, WEF said in a press statement. The meeting, April 28–29, will focus on new pathways to reinvigorate growth globally amid the challenges posed by an increasingly fragmented geopolitical and economic environment.

It will revolve around three themes: revitalizing global collaboration; a compact for inclusive growth; and catalyzing action on energy for development, it was added. The event bridges the growing North-South divide, which has further widened issues such as emerging economic policies, the energy transition, and geopolitical shocks.

The prime minister was invited to attend the WEF meeting by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab.

On the margins of the main event, the prime minister and his delegation will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, including the Saudi leadership, heads of international organizations, and other prominent figures participating in the event.
