PTI names PAC chairman in a day or two:  Shibli Faraz

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal information minister Shibli Faraz has said that the name for the Public Accounts Committee Chairman will be finalized within one or two days reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Talking to media persons informally in Islamabad, he said Imran Khan had named Sher Afzal Marwat for the chairmanship but due to the objection raised by the speaker's office on Marwat’s name, Imran Khan gave an alternative candidate’s name for the slot.

He lamented that PTI founder Imran Khan also named the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Hamid Raza as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.

But the National Assembly (NA) Secretariat reportedly decided against PTI’s recommended candidate by holding that there is no binding to elect only an opposition member for the slot. PTI again named Hamid Raza as the Public Accounts Committee Chairman.

Now, the party leadership has completed all consultations over the nomination of a new candidate for the post and would unveil his name in a day or two, he said, adding that in the conditions in which the party is working, no one can work openly.

He said decision-making authority was vested in the party's Core Committee and the Apex Committee.

Shibli Faraz said only lawyers could meet Imran Khan in Adiala jail and PTI politicians had no access to the party chief.  

“Several times it happened that we needed to re-verify while receiving a message from Imran Khan, he remarked.
