Former KP Speaker's nomination papers rejected, wife's papers approved

The former speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, has been disqualified from contesting the upcoming general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The Abbottabad Returning Officer rejected his nomination papers on the grounds of his absence from the country and the expiry of his transit bill.
Ghani is reportedly hiding in Britain after the May 9 incident, and his passport has also expired. However, his wife Farzana Mushtaq's nomination papers have been accepted by the Returning Officer.
Atif Khan faces objections to his nomination papers
Former provincial minister Atif Khan is facing challenges to his candidacy for the general elections. Four objections have been filed against him, one for NA-22 and three for PK-59.
The petitioners have accused him of corruption during his tenure as a minister and of submitting incomplete returns and birth certificates of his children.
The Returning Officers have received the applications and are expected to decide on them soon. A large number of Khan's supporters and lawyers are present in the civil secretariat, where a heavy contingent of police is also deployed.
ANP's Aimal Wali Khan clears scrutiny process
The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP), Aimal Wali Khan, has passed the scrutiny process and his nomination papers have been approved by the District Election Commission Charsadda. Khan will contest the elections from NA-25 Charsadda, where he will face tough competition from other parties.
Khan expressed confidence in his victory and said that he will work for the welfare of the people of Charsadda.
