Iranian authorities apprehended 10,454 Pakistanis who entered Iran illegally via different border routes from January 1, 2024 to December 15, 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials said that Iranian authorities arrested these illegal Pakistanis from Taftan area and handed over them to Pakistani officials.

Apart from Pakistanis large number of Afghan nationals also entered Iran illegally to depart for European countries for better future and life.

FIA said that mostly these illegal persons were arrested in Iran. 

Current year 2024 witnessed highest number of arrested people as compared with the previous year’s number.

In year 2023 Iranian authorities arrested 8,272 illegal Pakistanis while over 62,000 illegal Pakistanis were arrested by Iranian officials from year 2020 to 2024.

Majority of illegal Pakistanis who were arrested in Iran belonged to Punjab province. 

It is necessary to mention here that Pakistan connected with Iran through five borders which includes Chaghi, Washuk, Panjgour, Kich and Gwadar.
