A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan by Engineer Qazi Muhammad Saleem, a resident of Peshawar, seeking the restoration of the bat symbol for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after the general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
The petitioner has requested the court to provide a level playing field for all political parties and voters in the elections, and to uphold their constitutional rights.
He has argued that voters cannot be deprived of their fundamental right to vote and elect the people they like, and that no political party can be denied its constitutional right to use its symbol.
The petition has named the federal government and the Election Commission of Pakistan as respondents.
