Ishaq Dar, CM Naqvi perform annual ghusl ceremony of Data Ganj Bakhsh shrine

Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Friday performed the annual “ghusal” ceremony at the shrine of famous Sufi saint Hazrat Ali Bin Usman Hajveri, commonly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, with rosewater in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Both Ishaq Dar and Mohsin Naqvi laid a ‘chaddar’ of flowers on the grave of Data Ganj Bakhsh, and they along with hundreds of devotees also prayed for the progress and stability of Pakistan and durable peace in the country.

Punjab Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Azfar Ali Nasir, Provincial Auqaf Secretary Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, former provincial minister Bilal Yasin, Data Darbar administrator Shahid Hamid Virk, and Data Darbar manager Sheikh Jamil participated in the ghusl ceremony.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. After that, the grave of the Sufi saint was bathed with 2,000 kilograms of rosewater.

Both the finance minister and the Punjab chief minister also laid the foundation stone of the expansion project of the Data Darbar shrine.

While talking to the media, Mohsin Naqvi said that ‘Nazrana App’ had been launched for the online submission of charity to the shrine.

He said that people in the country or abroad would be able to submit charity online for different purposes at the shrine through the app.
