Another case of an alleged forced marriage with an underage girl after abduction has surfaced in Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The father of the girl named Umme Hani adopted before the court that his daughter was abducted from Hyderabad on May 21, 2022 and lured into marriage with her kidnapper.
The police produced the girl and her alleged husband in the Sindh High Court (SHC) where the girl maintained that she had never been abducted.
She also declared before the court that she married Aftab as per her choice.
On the other hand, the father of the girl insisted that his daughter was 11-year-old, and she was lured into marrying her kidnapper.
“The girl studies in Class-VI. They (kidnappers) are the mafia. They will sell her out,” he pleaded before the court.
“We were dealing with a missing person case. Now, as the girl has appeared in the court, we can do nothing. Anyone, who has reservations, should approach the trial court,” said Justice Junaid Ghaffar.
“Where will we go if we cannot seek justice from the court?” said the father in the court.
“The legal procedure has to be followed. You want the court to do what it had not done even in the big case which was being highlighted on the mainstream and social media,” the judge said to the girl’s father while hinting at Dua Zehra case.
On the occasion, the father of the girl presented the girl’s school certificates which stated that the Umme Hani’s date of birth was 2010.
But, she was mentioned as 18 years old in the marriage certificate.
The court, however, allowed the girl to go with the boy after her statement.
