Brands resist as bread prices reduced in Lahore

District Administration Lahore has announced a hefty cut in prices of bakery items after massive drop in rates of wheat flour and fine flour but the branded companies refused to lower the bread rates, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In this regard, the prices of bread have been reduced by Rs50 to Rs70. The price of large bread has been fixed at Rs180 after a cut of Rs50 while price of small bread has been fixed at Rs95 taking it down from Rs140.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider said that the new prices of bread will be enforced immediately.
She said that the slide in wheat price is impacting all the sub-commodities.
However, branded companies in the city were resisting the imposition of new rates.
The new prices will be applied to local bakeries at the moment.
