Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) categorically rejected the claim of Prime Minister’s Advisor Shahzad Akbar’s claim in the money laundering case against Shehbaz Sharif and his son in the UK.
According to the 24News HD TV Channel, the PML-N Spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb termed the claim of the PM’s aide false and said he was personally behind the case against Sharifs in the UK.
Shahzad Akbar in his recent tweets said that the acquittal of Sharifs in a money laundering case by a UK court was incorrect news and misreporting because there was no case on the behest of the Pakistani government or any state institute like NAB.
Anyhow, the PML-N spokesperson said that on December 10, 2019, NAB Lahore Director-General met with officials of the National Crime Agency (NCA) in London.
And next day, a petition was filed on December 11, 2019, by Barrister Zia Naseem of the East Recovery Unit of the Prime Minister's Office headed by Shehzad Akbar, she said adding that after which the investigation of the assets of Shahbaz Sharif and his family began in the UK.
She also said that an e-mail was also sent to the NCA by the East Recovery Unit officials to assist in the case so the PM’s aide’s claim of not their involvement in the case against Sharifs in the UK was false.
The PML-N spokesperson also claimed that in 2020, Imran Khan’s government also invited the NCA to visit Pakistan.
