A court in Islamabad on Monday accepted the post-arrest bail application of PTI’s social media activist Urooba Komal, who had been arrested under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), in lieu of a surety bond of Rs50,000, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Urooba’s lawyer Sardar Masroof Advocate appeared in the court.
During the hearing, the lawyer said that already two women had been granted bail in the same case. “The fact is my client was even not nominated in the FIR,” he said.
Yesterday, Duty Judge Mureed Abbas had sent Urooba to jail on a judicial remand.
PTI spokesman Rauf Hassan, Urooba Komal and other party workers had been booked under the PECA Act.
PTI’s Ahmad Waqas Janjua sent on judicial remand
Also on Monday, rejecting the police’s request for an extension in the physical remand of PTI’s International Media Coordinator Ahmad Waqas Janjua, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad sent him to jail on judicial remand instead.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra pronounced the verdict he had reserved in the case.
