Expressing strong indignation over the people’s complaints about power outages, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday ordered immediately ending unannounced loadshedding being reported from some areas of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing a meeting called to discuss the situation, arising out of protests against prolonged loadshedding in different parts of the country, the prime minister said that the consumers would be rid of loadshedding during summers.
He ordered that strict action should be taken against those responsible for unannounced loadshedding.
He also ordered action against those employees of the concerned departments who were found negligent in stopping incidents of power theft.
PM Shehbaz directed that all resources be utilized to provide a big relief to the people during the ongoing heatwave.
At the same time, he ordered a grand operation against those involved in power theft.
Briefing the meeting, the Ministry of Energy officials said that unannounced loadshedding was being done only in those areas where the feeders were causing losses.
The prime minister, however, said that even in those areas loadshedding hours should be curtailed.
It was informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had assured the government that he would take steps to bring down incidents of power theft in his province.
The PM welcomed the progress made in a meeting with the KP CM.
