34 suspects detained over telecom workers’ lynching in Karachi

Police on Saturday registered a case of the lynching of two employees of a telecom company in Machhar Colony, Karachi by a mob and arrested three more suspects, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The law enforcers including police and Rangers have become active as they detained 34 people for interrogation on suspicion of their involvement in the incident during search operation and arrested three among them.
The total number of suspects who have been arrested so far has reached six.
Earlier, a case was registered on the complaint of the uncle of one of the slain workers, Ishaq. The case includes sections relating to murder, terrorism and other clauses.
As many as 15 people have been nominated in the FIR while more than 200 people have been included in the case.
According to the FIR, Ishaq along with engineer Aiman Javed came to Machhar Colony to check the signal testing. Around 200 to 250 people beat them with sticks and pebbles killing them both.
The frenzy mob also set to fire the vehicle on which the telecom workers came to reach the place.
On Friday, in an incident of mob violence, two telecom workers who were thought to be ‘kidnappers’ by people were mercilessly lynched in Machhar Colony in Kamyari area in Karachi.
According to details, the residents of Maripur Machhar Colony got hold of two people taking them as kidnappers near Elahi Mosque. Instead of handing them over to police, the people took the law into their own hands and started beating them. The torture by the mob was so severe that they both succumbed to their injuries.
Citizens alleged that the slain persons were kidnappers whom they lynched.
Police reached the venue and took the bodies in their custody. They shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital.
