Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday he had arrived in Iceland to discuss the Russian invasion with leaders of several Nordic countries.
Zelensky's first visit to Iceland comes amid a diplomatic push to rally allies around his "victory plan" to end the war with Russia, whose forces are advancing across key sectors of the front line in eastern Ukraine.
"Our discussions will focus on support for the Victory Plan and the areas where our cooperation can yield maximum results: financing Ukrainian weapons production and long-range capabilities," Zelensky said in a post on social media.
He was due to attend the fourth Ukraine-Nordic Summit and hold talks with leaders from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Those five countries have pledged billions of euros in aid to Ukraine since Russian forces invaded nearly three years ago.
Zelensky said he would discuss aid ahead of winter as well as maritime security, and training for Ukrainian troops.
"The Nordic countries are principled and resolute allies, and the Ukraine-Nordic Platform stands as one of our most productive multilateral formats," Zelensky said in the social media post.
