PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan resigns over ‘clipping of powers’

Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Khan has resigned from his post, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Sources said Wasim Khan has presented his resignation to PCB Chairman Rameez Raja, who has accepted his resignation.
The sources further divulged that Waseem Ahmad quit his post after some of his powers clipped.
Later in a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Wasim Khan has tendered his resignation as Chief Executive. As is the process, the PCB Board of Governors will meet later today to consider the matter.
Chairman PCB Rameez Raja said that the Board has decided to replace the slot of PCB Executive Director with PCB Director Cricket.
Wasim Khan’s resignation will be presented in the PCB governing body emergency meeting being called today.
Wasim Khan, an MBA from Warwick Business School, is a former professional cricketer. He played county cricket in England from 1995 to 2001, during which he represented Warwickshire, Sussex and Derbyshire.
He also played in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. In a 58-match first-class career, Wasim scored 2,835 runs with five centuries and 17 half-centuries, with the highest score of 181.
Wasim Khan's resignation came as newly-appointed PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has called for a complete overhaul of the system.
It also came after the cricket team's head coach Misbahul Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis had resigned from their posts with the 2021 T20 World Cup just around the corner.
Misbah had cited bio-secure bubbles as the reason behind his decision to quit while Waqar had said it was a "straightforward decision" for him after learning of Misbah's plans.
The pair still had a year each left in their contracts after being appointed in September 2019.
