Later, the DG told the media that adulterated Desi Ghee was being brought to the city in a mini-truck. “Artificial flavours were added to the Banaspati Ghee of an inferior quality and the label of Desi Ghee was pasted on it,” he informed.
He further disclosed that not only artificial flavours and colours, but chemicals were also mixed into the ghee which was to be supplied to different hotels of the provincial capital.
Naswana added that driver of the mini-truck had been held while a case was registered against the owner of the ghee-manufacturing unit.

He said those contaminating nutritious Desi Ghee with artificial flavours and colours were worst enemies of human health.
“All kinds of food items prepared and sold in Punjab are on the radar of food authority as Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has given special instructions in this regard,” the DG concluded.
