The Islamabad High Court has barred the authorities from arresting and taking Advocate Imaan Hazir-Mazari out of the limits of Islamabad, reported 24NewsHDTV channel.

A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday on the request of Advocate Mazari to provide details of cases registered against her.

Her mother and former human rights minister Dr Shireen Mazari submitted an application on behalf of Imaan Mazari through her lawyer Zainab Janjua.

Imaan Mazari has also sought protective bail in other cases.

PPP leader Farhatullah Babar was also present in the court.

IHC judge, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case.

Lawyers Salman Akram Raja and Qaiser Imam appeared in the court on behalf of Shireen Mazari.

Advocate Raja read out the details of the FIR against Imaan Mazari.

The lawyers said in their arguments that there was no need for them to file such an application, but the circumstances compelled them to do so.

Two FIRs were registered against Imaan Mazari under the provisions of terrorism and sedition. She was arrested in two cases, and was later released on bail in both the cases. Then Mazari was arrested from outside the Adiala Jail in the third case.

Justice Aurangzeb remarked, “We are passing through a very difficult period. Imaan Mazari was present in this court, I asked her to control her mother's tongue. Imaan Mazari assured, but she did not control her own tongue. 2023 is the darkest year in terms of implementation of the constitution and judiciary.”

The lawyer said that if someone has committed a crime, then the court could see it according to the law. The case filed against her is based on mela fide intentions.

The lawyer pleaded with the court to inform them how many cases have been registered against her client. He requested the court to prevent authorities from arresting Imaan Mazari in any other case. We are not going through normal conditions at this time, Mazari should be prevented from being arrested in any other case and taken outside Islamabad, he requested.

The court inquired that how many cases are registered against Advocate Imaan Mazari across the country?

The judge ordered the interior secretary to get a report from the provinces and inform the court by tomorrow.

The court then ordered the interior secretary to ensure that Imaan Mazari is not arrested and taken out of Islamabad in cases registered after August 20.

After that, the court adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
