ECP refrains caretaker government from privatization

The Election Commission of Pakistan has refrained the caretaker government from privatizing government institutions, sources said on Monday.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, large enterprises were placed on the list for privatization.
National airlines, steel mills etc were among the state institutions undergoing the privatization process.
The services of an international financial advisor were also obtained for the privatization of the national airline for 7 million dollars.
The insiders said the ECP wrote a letter to the government barring the privatization.
They added the ECP letter stated that large institutions are not included in the mandate of the caretaker government and the caretaker is authorized to transact only for routine administrative matters.
The ECP stressed in the letter that the big transaction does not come under the jurisdiction of the caretaker government, it should be avoided.
