Pak peacekeeper embraces martyrdom in Sudan

A Pak Army soldier embraced martyrdom when a convoy of Pakistani Peacekeepers was ambushed in Abyei, a disputed area between Sudan and South Sudan, ISPR said on Monday
The convoy was escorting two local patients to a hospital when it came under a militant attack on January 28, the military media wing said, adding that Pakistani peacekeepers responded effectively and forced the militants to retreat.
The ISPR said during an exchange of fire, Sepoy Muhammad Tariq from the Badin district of Sindh embraced martyrdom while another four, including two officers, sustained injuries.
Pakistan's peacekeeping contingents have always shown valour and devotion to duty. So far,181 Pakistani peacekeepers soldiers have laid their lives while serving the cause of peace around the world.
Pakistan remains committed to its role as a responsible member of the international community and will continue to contribute to global peace and stability under the United Nations.
