Noted figures have been showing solidarity with the teen torture victim battling for life at Lahore General Hospital. JI chief Sirajul Haq enquired after 14-year-old Rizwana.
He said that the torture of domestic worker is shameful. He stressed the need for adapting measures to avert such incidents.
Celebrities too expressed solidarity with Rizwana and called for concerted efforts to put an end to such brutalities. Mishi Khan insisted the culprit must be brought to book. She added proper steps must be taken to protect the rights of children and the law must be enforced.
Sajal Ali said that the children should let live. Violence against children and forced labor must be brought to an end, she added.
Nadia Jamil said that the elite makes children work and subjects them to brutality. She called for measures to ensure children’s rights saying education is the basic right of a child and it must be ensured.
Meanwhile, the condition of torture victim teen is improving, said Post Graduate Medical Institute/Ameer Uddin Medical College Principal Prof Dr M Al-Fareed Zafar.
The level of platelets and oxygen in her blood is bettering and she asked for food, he said.
Wife of a civil judge in Islamabad allegedly tortured Rizwana brutally and asked her mother to take her home in Sargodha.
The 14-year-old was taken to Sargodha district hospital from where she was referred to Lahore General Hospital.
