Reacting to the issuance of an edict (Fatwa) by TLP Naeb Ameer Pir Zaheerul Hassan Shah, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said on Monday that nobody had the right to hurl life threats at anybody, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a news conference in Rawalpindi, Attaullah Tarar asked who had given the TLP the right to question somebody’s faith.

He opined that an edict was issued to achieve some political objectives. “The government will act as a bulwark against those spreading hatred,” the minister said, adding, “Only the government has the power to enforce the writ of the state.”

He went on to say the act by the party amounted to terrorism. “This is a test case and the government will pursue it.”

The minister said the ulema, belonging to different schools of thought, and the government have agreed that nobody will be allowed to take law into hands in the name of religion.

Attaullah Tarar strongly condemned the issuance of fatwas against Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. He said the Supreme Court, in its Urdu press release, has clarified that believing in the finality of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is part of every Muslim's faith.

The minister said neither law nor society permits anyone to issue decrees against fellow Muslims' faith.  He said a case has been registered against the culprits behind such fatwas, aimed at spreading hatred. He said strict action will be taken in this regard.
