In a startling revelation, Pakistan’s most prestigious educational institution Government College University (GCU), Lahore has been found playing with the student’s future by offering progammes not approved by the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Accreditation Council, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
It has been learnt that the university has introduced several such degree programmes.
The council has refused to recognize the BS Artificial Intelligence degree the GCU now offers, putting the future of students, who are now into their third semester, at stake.
Not only that, the HEC has also refused to recognize the institution’s BS Information Technology degree, while on the other hand, despite failing to win the council’s approval for its Computer Science programme, the university has placed an advertisement for fresh admissions in the programme.
The HEC has now even posted on its website the list of degree programmes offered by the GCU, which are not certified by it.
While the students are quite worried about their future, the university’s administration, on the other hand, is tightlipped about it.
