Pakistani researchers bag MRC’s team impact prize

Prof Dr Iqbal Choudhary, Prof Dr Sammer Yousuf and their team comprising the faculty members of HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine Drug Research were honored by the UK’s Medical Research Council (MRC) with the Outstanding Team Impact prize.


The prize is given to an inspiring team whose collaborative science approach significantly impacted medical research. The recognition was based on research outcomes made being a part of “A Global Network of the Tropical Neglected Diseases (NTD)”, funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) from the Medical Research Council (MRC) and led by the Durham University, UK.


The NTD network was comprising leading scientists from the UK, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Pakistan who worked as a team against protozoan NTDs, leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.


Prof Choudhary’s leadership together with diverse expertise from various scientific backgrounds showcased the outcome of team science towards research related to the field of leishmaniasis and thus an honour for Pakistan. The academic community of Pakistan has congratulated Prof Dr Iqbal Ch and his team for bagging another prestigious prize.
