The 29th death anniversary of Altaf Parwaz—multilingual poet of the sub continent, writer, journalist, broadcaster and a prominent worker of Pakistan Movement—will be observed on December 1, 2021 (Wednesday) at 11:30am at Islamabad’s graveyard at H-8, near Zero Point.

Various literary organizations will place floral wreaths and to offer ‘Fateha’, on the grave of the deceased.

Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan honoured him with the gold medal for his selfless and meritorious services rendered during the Pakistan Movement, in the fields of journalism, literature and social services.

Late Altaf Parwaz had more than 85 published books in the various disciplines of literature at his credit, including, poetry, prose and the major work of translating the poetic collection of Pashto Sufi poet Rehman Baba, Balochi poet Mast Tokali and Khalil Jibran poems into Punjabi, published by Pakistan Academy of Letters. Altaf Parwaz’s Naat collection, ‘Noor-e-Hira’ was published after his death. He wrote poems in Urdu, Punjabi, Pasto and Persian.

He remained associated with dailies Aghaz, Ehsan, Zimidaar, before independence and after independence he was editor, Monthly Magazine Hidayaat, Afaaq, Nottingham, UK daily, Tameer, contributed regular column, Aalam-e-Parwaz in Nawa-e-Waqt, TV Plays for PTV and served Radio Pakistan for 22 years.
