Seeking time from an accountability court (AC) in Islamabad, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor Irfan Bhola said on Thursday that he would first go through the contents of the statement submitted by former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana reference before forming any opinion about it, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the Toshakhana case against Nawaz Sharif, another former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, and former president Asif Ali Zardari.
Giving his arguments in the case, Nawaz’s counsel said that his client was cooperating with the investigators.
He further said that the PML-N supremo had been provided a questionnaire which had been drafted in 2019. “At that time, my client was quite sick,” he said, and added, “Now he has submitted his reply to the questionnaire.”
Seconding his statement, the NAB prosecutor told the court that the investigation officer (IO) in the case had told him that the former prime minister had submitted his reply.
Nawaz’s lawyer went on to say that the PML-N supremo had made no demand for a car. “It is part of the record that there was no such demand from him,” he said.
The court then adjourned the hearing of the case until December 20.
