Accusing the PTI of uploading what he called fake photos on social media to show that its workers were killed due to firing by the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) at Islamabad’s Red Zone on November 26, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said on Saturday that one thing should be clear that legal action would be taken against those spreading fake news, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, the minister said the government had decided that the politics of confrontation and violence would not be allowed in the country.

He said PTI had unleashed propaganda against the state institutions to achieve its political interests.

He said the truth of the matter was that the PTI protestors, who had brought AK-47 rifles with them, kept firing at the LEAs personnel. “On the other hand, not a single bullet was fired at the PTI protestors,” he said.

Tarar alleged that in some instances, pictures of Palestinian martyrs were edited to show them as PTI workers. “So far, the government has found no CCTV, mobile or live footage to substantiate the party’s claim that its workers were killed.”

The minister said that when the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government took over in April 2022 following the ouster of the PTI government as a result of the passage of a no-trust motion, the country was on the brink of ‘default’. “Now the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) reserves have exceeded $11 billion.”

The mission of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Tarar went on to say, was to improve the country’s economy.
