Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi Sunday expressed displeasure over lack of free medicines during his surprise visit to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura on Sunday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, CM Naqvi visited former MNA Main Javed Latif's residence and offered condolences on the death of his brother.
After this, CM Naqvi proceeded to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura to assess the facility's operations. He conducted rounds, visiting patients receiving treatment in the trauma centre and various hospital wards.
He also made inquiries about the provision of medicines and other essential amenities for the patients.
CM Naqvi expressed displeasure when he learned that free medications were not being provided to all patients in the medical ward. He promptly instructed Deputy Commissioner Waqar Ali Khan to allocate immediate funds for purchasing medicines from external sources for the patients.
Highlighting the importance of providing medicines directly from the hospital to patients under treatment, CM Naqvi emphasized that any reported complaints would result in necessary actions.
CM Punjab lauded the government hospitals in the district for offering exceptional healthcare services. While acknowledging the positive attributes of Sheikhupura's hospital compared to many others in Punjab, he also emphasized the potential for improvements.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Punjab affirmed that the hospital currently provides free medication to patients facing emergencies and informed about the formation of specialized teams for heart patients, facilitating their transfer to Lahore for angiogram procedures when required.
