Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday expressed optimism about Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy, affirming that the tournament will take place in Pakistan.
In an informal conversation with journalists in Lahore, he assured fans that all participating teams would be arriving in Pakistan to compete, saying, “Pray for the Champions Trophy, Inshallah, it will be held in Pakistan. Rest assured, all teams will come to play.”
Discussing the preparation of stadiums, he stated that all necessary renovations and construction work would be completed by December 15, ensuring the venues are fully ready for the tournament.
On the participation of the Indian team, he commented, " God will make it better in the case of India."
The chairman also emphasized that he does not interfere in the team’s selection process.
“It is the selection committee’s responsibility to decide if Fakhar Zaman will be part of the team or not. I do not influence the choice of any player,” he clarified.
To a question, he said that the PCB did not terminate its agreement with former coach Gary Kirsten, who had himself decided to part ways.
On Aaqib Javed’s role, he said no final decision had been made yet.
On the topic of coaching, the chairman mentioned that discussions were ongoing with 5-7 candidates, and the PCB was looking to fill several vacant roles within the organization.
