Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has announced an extension of 15 days in the date of income tax return filling, reported 24News HD TV channel on Thursday.
Finance Minister announced extension till October 15 after hearing problems faced by taxpayers in filling income tax returns.
Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) delegation met with the finance minister in Islamabad. The delegation was led by Chairman Businessmen Group and former President KCCI Zubair Motiwala.
The delegation also included Vice Chairman BMG Haroon Farooqi and Javed Balwani, General Secretary AQ Khalil and KCCI President Muhammad Idrees.
The delegation commended the Finance Minister for understanding the difficulties faced by the taxpayers in filing income tax returns and for announcing relief.
The KCCI delegation stressed the need to amend ineffective tax policies.
The delegation expressed serious concerns over the implementation of the Tax Laws Third Amendment Ordinance 2021. The delegation said that these laws would also be implemented first from Karachi. They said that all such laws started from Karachi.
If Karachi has to pay all taxes and also has to pay fines, then why development funds are not being received in proportion to the contribution, the KCCI delegation said.
