Students delight: Winter vacation extended in Punjab

The Punjab government has announced that the winter vacation for all educational institutions in the province have been extended till January 9, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
The decision was taken in view of the prevailing cold weather and the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
Education Minister Mansoor Qadir confirmed the extension of holidays.
The Higher Education Department (HED) has also notified the extension of winter vacations both in Public and Private Sectors up to 09-01-2024.
According to the notification, all colleges (public and private) shall re-open on Wednesday 10th January, 2024 resuming full/normal week for all classes.
BS 4-Year Programs, however, shall continue to function. Furthermore, all examinations shall be held as per the notified schedules of Boards and Universities.
Earlier, the provincial government had announced the winter vacation from December 18 to December 31.
However, the parents had also demanded to extend the vacation by one week due to the harsh weather coupled with dense fog in the morning, saying the month of January is likely to get even colder.
The parents said that most of the private schools have already given more than a week of vacation and will open from January 8.
The parents also demanded that the government school holidays should also be extended till January 7.
