Acclaimed Pakistani actress Sajal Aly has decided to educate the public regarding the harsh reality associated with child labor in Pakistan.
The showbiz figure has taken to her Instagram handle in order to repost a video of an influential member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Rabia Azfar Nizami, who has been spotted passionately shedding light on the severity attached with child labor in Pakistan, here are the exact words uttered by Rabia: “I would like to bring attention towards some facts related to the social welfare in Pakistan. Four Hundred and Thirty Four cases of violence related to children have been reported while One Hundred and Seventy Nine cases of child labor have been reported recently from which 98% are from Karachi, such an alarming number.”
She further mentioned: “71 cases of sexual violence, 30 cases of sexual abuse from which 60% are from Karachi. Almost 1.7 million children are forced to do child labor. We have no child protection officers in the country.”
“I request to all opposition for sanction and depute at least one male and one female child protection authority officer in each district. I request please notify CPUs (Child Protection Units). You have the law but you do not implement. We have to make each citizen realize that if he/she witnesses any child begging on the road they must report it to the authorities.”
