Rain in Punjab cities keeps mercury in check

Rain, accompanied by winds, in different parts of Punjab, including provincial capital Lahore, on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning brought down temperatures considerably, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The Met Office, on the other hand, predicted light and heavy rain for different parts of Punjab during the next 24 hours as well.
Different parts of Lahore, including Dharampura, Canal Road, Garhi Shahu, The Mall, Zaman Park, Zahoor Elahi Road, Jail Road, Icchra, Ferozepur Road, Kot Lakhpat, Kacha Jail Road, Model Town, Johar Town, Township and Islampura, received rain.
As elsewhere in Punjab, rain and cool breeze turned weather extremely pleasant in Narowal and its suburbs and brought smiles on people’s faces.
Low-lying areas were inundated due to the downpour.
Similarly, drizzle and cool breeze in and around Nowshera Virkan turned the weather pleasant.
Parts of north-east Punjab such as Shakargarh, Kartarpur, Noorkot and Skhu Chak also received rain that brought respite for the people from heat.
Several feeders were tripped and low-lying areas were inundated following showers in and around Hujra Shah Muqeem, near Okara, Pakpattan and Renala Khurd, also near Okara.
There was light rain at Nankana Sahib, which came as a pleasant surprise for the people looking for respite from heat.
Rain at Fort Abbas and adjoining Cholistan desert, in the south of Punjab, not only brought relief for the people from heat but also fulfilled their water requirements.
Locals said that rains made them prosperous.
