Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Minister Zahir Shah has said the province achieved the wheat target and ‘now waiting trucks should go back’.

“Our target has been met, now all the waiting trucks should go back,” he said while addressing a press conference on Friday. Anti-corruption aide Mossadiq Abbasi and finance adviser Muzamil Aslam accompanied the minister.

Zahir Shah said: “The government fully cooperated with farmers.”

He added: “The provincial wheat need is 500,000 metric tonnes and more than Rs29 billion has been spent on wheat procurement.”

They claimed transparency was ensured in the wheat procurement process.

The minister said wheat has also been purchased from Punjab farmers.

The special aide said the Punjab government did not make any offer for the wheat purchase.

Mossadiq said KP introduced a special app for wheat procurement.

He said: “Cameras were installed in all wheat warehouses. No one's rights were violated.

Muzamil said he said the government made measures to avert the flour crisis.

He raised the demand for funds for tribal areas.
