In a pivotal development in the ongoing Cipher missing case, the Ministry of External Affairs has successfully obtained a copy of the sealed cipher message from the Cabinet Division Islamabad on Monday.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, a copy of the cipher was sealed in the Cabinet Division during the last Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government.
After receiving approval from the Caretaker Prime Minister, the Cabinet Division decided to relinquish the cipher copy to the Ministry of External Affairs. This move was further sanctioned by the Federal Cabinet, reinforcing the handover of the crucial cipher document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The sources said the former prime minister requested a copy of the cipher, ostensibly to brief the cabinet members on undisclosed matters on the 30th of March, 2022.
Then the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf cabinet members handed over the cipher copy to the Cabinet Division on the same day.
The Cabinet Division was directed to keep the important state document in a safe box.
The Cipher case had generated substantial attention due to the absence of a cipher copy in the case documents, prompting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request one urgently.
This latest development now forms the foundation for progressing the case against the former prime minister Imran Khan in court, as the sealed cipher copy becomes a pivotal piece of evidence.
