The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed a fine of Rs. 23 million on Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) following the electrocution deaths of 12 people.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, NEPRA stated that LESCO's transmission and distribution system poses significant risks to both consumers and employees.

The regulatory body has also ordered LESCO to provide one job per family to the deceased's relatives and compensate each affected family with Rs. 4 million.

The deaths occurred during last year's monsoon season when several consumers and employees were electrocuted.

NEPRA had issued a show-cause notice to LESCO regarding these incidents. After reviewing LESCO's response and finding it unsatisfactory, NEPRA decided to impose a heavy fine, citing that LESCO failed to improve its system under NEPRA regulations.
