Punjab CM Maryam declares Lahore’s two mega projects open for traffic

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday inaugurated Lahore’s 7.5 kilometers long Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road and Ravi Bridge expansion projects, whose foundation stone had been laid by former Punjab CM Syed Mohsin Naqvi, but which were completed after inordinate delay, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Under the project, the remodeling of Babu Sabu Interchange at the entry and exit point of the corridor has also been done.

The chief minister, on the occasion, also ordered further expansion of the Bund Road’s service lane in order to facilitate the movement of people residing in adjoining localities.   

She also planted a sampling on the side of Bund Road.

Briefing CM Maryam on the projects, DG LDA Tahir Farooq and Chief Engineer Israr Saeed said that the drain on the side of the Bund Road had also been repaired.  

The officials informed that five subways for vehicular and four for pedestrians had also been built on the service road.  

They further said that a greenbelt and a park had been developed over 16 kanals and six marlas of the land worth over Rs1.5 billion at the Babu Sabu Chowk by removing encroachments from the area.

Briefing about the Ravi Bridge, they informed it was 540 meters long and had four lanes.

The officials told the CM that the project’s completion would benefit the residents of Shahdara, Kot Abdul Malik, Sheikhupura, Kala Shah Kaku, Lahore Ring Road and other nearby localities.   

While the completion of the Bund Road project, they went on to say, would benefit the people living in Sherakot, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Sanda, Chohan Road, Saggyan, Shafiqabad, Rasulpur, Rasulpura, Bilal Ganj, Munshi Hospital, Ameen Park and other suburban areas of the city.
