Spike in sugar price continues nationwide

Pakistan has witnessed incessantly surge in price of sugar in different parts of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV on Friday.
The price of sugar in Lahore jumped by Rs135 per kilogram (kg).
Moreover, in Karachi, Multan and Peshawar sugar price spiked by Rs150 per kg.
According to Sugar Dealers Association, sweetener is being sold at a wholesale rate of Rs140 per kg while the retail price has gone up from Rs 145 to Rs 150.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, KP Mahmood Khan, gave hope to the masses of the province and said that the prices of sugar would fell down to Rs90 within a day or two.
CM Mahmood, had chaired a meeting in which sugar prices were reviewed. The meeting was attended by concerned provincial ministers and administrative secretaries.
In the meeting it was informed that the first consignment of 10,000 metric tons of imported sugar would reach KP. Trucks carrying sugar from Karachi port have already left for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Chief Minister, directed the Deputy Commissioners across the province to crack down on sugar hoarders and said that immediate crackdown should be started against those involved. In the meeting, CM KP also reviewed the prices of flour and said that price of flour in the province is Rs1100 per bag of 20 kg.
