Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the petition for early investigation of party funds of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on September 6 (Tuesday)
According to the 24 News HD TV Channel, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case tomorrow.
The petitioner Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) leader Farrukh Habib has requested the court to issue directions to the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) to scrutinize the bank accounts of PPP and PML-N as soon as possible.
The petitioner pleaded in the application that only three years of funds of PPP and PML-N are being scrutinized while the ECP has already scrutinized the party funds received by PTI from 2008 at the request of Akbar S Babar.
The petitioner said the ECP is showing a discriminatory attitude towards PTI in comparison to other political parties, adding that there is an order of the Supreme Court regarding the scrutiny of party funds.
He further stated in the petition that the Election Commission ditches its fair and transparent role in the scrutiny of party funds.
It is requested in the application that the court should order the ECP to complete the scrutiny of party funds of both parties within two weeks.
