Floods in Balochistan claim another life; total death toll reaches 40

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that one more person has died in Balochistan due to the ongoing flood situation over the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll during the monsoon rains to 40.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the PDMA report confirmed that among the deceased are 24 children, 13 men, and 3 women.

The PDMA report also highlights that 19 people, including 14 children, 3 men, and 2 women, were injured in various incidents during the heavy downpours.

Since July 1st, the floods have affected a total of 168,041 people in the province. The extreme weather has completely destroyed 1,591 houses and partially damaged another 15,797 homes.

Additionally, 59,719 acres of crops and 179 kilometres of roads have been impacted, and seven bridges have suffered damage. The province has also reported the loss of 593 livestock.

During the torrential rains, three health units in Jaffarabad, and one each in Loralai and Kachhi were affected.

Over the past 24 hours, Barkhan received 10 mm of rainfall, while Loralai recorded 7 mm.
