24News TV channel Islamabad Bureau Chief Sagheer Chaudhry attempted to set himself ablaze in front of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory (Pemra) Headquarters against banning the television channel transmission on Monday.

Media workers have been staging countrywide protest against Pemra’s action for four days but to no avail.

The fourth day dawned with a hope for good news for more than a thousand families but dashed with heart-wrenching scenes like a worker breaking into tears over the high-ups apathy and Sagheer Ch’s attempt to immolate himself.

Sagheer, carrying a petrol bottle, made the announcement to set himself fire standing among his coworkers in front of Pemra office. His team mates saved him.

In Lahore, the peaceful workers were pelted with stones and brick at Tokar Niaz Baig what the authorities called drivers and locals did the crime.

However, they rallied to the Governor House to get their peaceful protest registered with authorities.
