Hundreds of Class IX students Monday protested against the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) for the non-issuance of admit cards 2024 to them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per the schedule, the papers for the secondary school certificate part II will commence on May 7, 2024, but the students were seen visiting the BSEK building for the sake of roll number slips.
Unfortunately, a large number of 10th class students will fail to appear for the exams due to the non-availability of admit cards.
Instead of preparing for the exam while sitting in their homes, they along with their parents were seen rushing to BSEK running from one window to another, one floor to another in search of the most vital document for appearing in the exam.
All regular and private students must bring their admit cards 2024 with them while appearing in exams.
The officials of BSEK claimed that the agents or management of their schools neither deposited the exam fee nor admission form to BSEK despite collecting the same from their students.
Several such students, accompanied by their parents staged a protest demonstration in front of the BSEK against what they termed an `injustice ' made with them by their schools and BSEK.
It is feared that the students could not appear in the examination and would lose their valuable one year if they are not provided with roll number slips.
The perturbed students raised slogans against the management of their schools and demanded that the BSEK authorities not deprive them of their right to appear in the exam.
The private school management claimed that they deposited fees and admission forms to agents but they disappeared with both.
The spokesperson of BSEK also clarified that forms were not submitted on time by private schools.
Scores of students tried to deposit fees and the examination form to save their precious year, but BSEK refused to accommodate them.
The students and their parents said that the exams are commencing tomorrow (Tuesday) but the schools have not given the admit cards to the students. “It is the responsibility of the school and board to issue the admit card to them.”
The board spokesperson said the admit card distribution process is ongoing from 30th April. “Schools which had submitted the form online can take the printout online.”
“Those students who have come to submit their exam forms will not be accommodated.”
He admitted that students’ school management had put the career of score of pupils at stake by not submitting their examination forms. He said that agents had pocketed the examination fee. "It is the responsibility of the private schools to take action against these agents.
