NDMA Chairman pays farewell call on PM Imran Khan, President Alvi

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt. General Muhammad Afzal, paid a farewell call on President Dr. Arif Alvi.

On the occasion, he also presented a book titled "Triumph in the face of adversity".

NDMA Chairman Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal also paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Prime Minister appreciated his services and wished him good luck for his future, the TV channel reported.

Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal was commissioned in 174 Engineer Battalion in Mar 1986.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and Master Degree in Geo Technical Engineering from Military College of Engineering.

Besides being a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta and National Defence University Islamabad. He is qualified in International Law of Conflict with special focus on Civilian in Combat Gender and Child, Civilian casualties and Displaced persons. He is also qualified in Border Security and Management from UK, dealing with refugees, Border demarcation etc.

He has diverse command, staff and instructional experience. He commanded 314 Assault Engineer Battalion, has also served with United Nations Mission in Haiti and headed forth Pakistani Contingent in Sierra Leone. In both missions was actively involved in relief activities and also restoration of infrastructure.

He also had the honour of being General Staff Officer-III and Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade. He served as General Staff Officer-1 in Military Operation Directorate, Colonel Staff of an Infantry Division (where he performed as Sector Commander Darra Adam Khel), Commander Corps Engineers in Multan (spearheaded the rescue, relief flood mitigation, rehabilitation efforts in 2010 flood in Muzafargarh District DG Khan, Layyah and Rajhanpur.

Served as Director Military Intelligence (Security) in Military Intelligence and also remained on faculty of Pakistan Military Academy and Military College of Engineering.

The General Officer also served as Commander Frontier Works Organization from Sep 2013 to Aug 2018. During command, FWO became the top construction company of the country based on number of projects acquired, infrastructure equipment and manpower strength, an honour that he is devoted to retain and establish international foothold by leveraging its competitive advantage.

He developed nation security paradigm in insurgency prone areas of Pakistan and has been a key exponent of “development as major component of strategic counter insurgency campaign”.

His main areas of expertise include “Planning and development of mega projects”, “Financial modeling for mega projects”, “Development and Security”, “Financial Resources generation for mega projects” and “Development and Economy”.
