Three foreign women dodge gang-rape attempt in Islamabad jungle

The tragic issue of sexual assault on a foreigner near Islamabad took another twist as it was revealed that a total of three foreign women were targeted by unidentified men, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to police, two women were found from the forest near Saniari. They are from Turkey and Italy.
On the other hand, the police were able to recover the third foreigner –a Norwegian – from Talhar.
They said initial statements of the women had been recorded in which they said three persons tried to gang-rape them and also tried to snatch their handbags. However, they resisted the attempt successfully and ran away from the scene with one of them received minor injuries, the police added.
However, the women walked for several kilometres through the forest before they were rescued as they had lost their way and the attackers kept following them.
Earlier, it was reported that a foreign woman was raped in the mountains near Islamabad as police launched a search operation to rescue the victim.
According to police sources, unidentified men sexually assaulted the woman in the jungle near Daman-e-Koh – a popular tourist spot near the federal capital.
Later, she managed to inform the police about the horrific incident on the phone but had lost her way in the forest. However, she remained in contact with the police after sharing the information.
However, the police started the search operation in the area around Daman-e-Koh, Talhar and Faisal Mosque. Sniffer dogs were also used in the effort.
