Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (North Zone) former president Kashif Zia demanded from the authorities to fully revive the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) operations in order to save the country’s export industry, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said in times when PIA routes are not operational to multiple designations, the export industry has been suffering heavy losses because air cargo rates of other airlines increased by 400 times bringing the export industry on the brink of disaster.

The TV channel reported Kashif Zia termed the situation a major blow to the export sector at times when other international cargo rates are 400 times higher in comparison to the past due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

If the government really wanted to increase exports then the operations of the national carrier must be resumed, he further said.
