The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination notified that the federal government has approved the four members for the board of governors under Section 4 of the Federal Medical Teaching Institutes Ordinance (MTI).

Board of governors members are: Mirza Qamar Baig, Syed Bukhtiyar Kazmi, Dr Humayun Muhammad and Naveed Khalid Butt. On the other hand, PIMS employees announced a protest against the MTI ordinance.

Earlier, in November, three major public-sector hospitals of the federal capital were converted into Medical Teaching Institutes (MTI) after President Arif Alvi approved the ordinance proposed by the Minister of National Health Services (NHS).

Under the MTI, after the commencement of the Act, all civil servants serving in the medical teaching institution, within a period to be notified by the government may exercise a one-time irrevocable option to become employees of the medical teaching institution.
