15 terrorists arrested in operations across Punjab

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 15 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in various cities of Punjab amid fears of terrorism, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to CTD authorities, operations were conducted in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Toba Tek Singh, Muzaffargarh, Attock, Mianwali, Faisalabad and Chiniot.

During such an operation, a dangerous terrorist of outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) trained from South Waziristan was arrested from Mianwali.

Explosive material, explosive jacket, 18 detonators, safety fuse wire 47 feet, IED bomb, prima card, mobile phone and cash were recovered from the terrorists.

The detained terrorists were identified as Hafiz Abdul Malik, Noor Rahim, Noor Ul Amin, Aziz, Riaz, Ikram Khan, Ijaz, Abdul Wahab, Yar Gul and Ali Shah, officials said.

The terrorists were planning to launch attacks to spread fear among the people.

Authorities arrested 225 suspects during 714 combing operations this month. As many as 19,670 people were questioned in these combing operations, the officials added.
