Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, others acquitted in Nandipur Power Plant reference

Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Tuesday got a big relief after an accountability court acquitted him and two others in the Nandipur Power Plant reference, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
It is to be noted here that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against the former prime minister and others in 2018 on the charge of extending a loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.
Accountability Court judge Syed Asghar Ali pronounced the verdict during a hearing of the petition filed for acquittal of the accused in the case.
The court also acquitted Shumaila Mehmood and Shahid Rafi in the case.
It is worth mentioning that seven persons had been nominated as suspects in the case of whom four suspects including Dr Babar Awan, Justice (retd) Riaz Kiyani, Masood Chishti, and Dr Riaz had already been acquitted.
