One dacoit was killed and six others were arrested during the ongoing grand operation of the Punjab police against the outlaws in the Kacha area of Rahim Yar Khan, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
One police constable was also injured due to fierce firing from both sides.
The injured head constable was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. A huge cache of weapons was also recovered from their possessions.
The Punjab Police launched a grand operation against the bandits of the Kacha areas.
The Punjab IG Usman Anwar himself is leading the operation.
Punjab IG Usman Anwar said that the exchange of fire between the police and the outlaws was ongoing.
” Several police posts have been fully restored in the Kacha area and the operation is intelligence-based.”
He stated that the sanctuaries of criminals would be completely eradicated from the area.
The Punjab top cop said that modern weapons and armored vehicles are being used in the operation.
Punjab IG said that a force of 2,000 soldiers has been sent from Punjab while a total of 11,000 soldiers are participating in the operation.
“2,000 more personnel from PC and various districts have been dispatched to participate in the Kacha operation,” Dr. Usman Anwar added.
He added that the operation was being conducted with the utmost care to minimize civilian casualties.
Meanwhile, Sindh Police also announced that they would begin similar operations in their areas to root out the menace of dacoits.
The situation in the Kacha area remains tense as the police continue their operation against the criminals.
The authorities expressed their determination to continue the operation until all the criminals were apprehended and brought to justice.
