Allies ‘mustering JUI support’ for elections of Senate chairman, deputy chairman

A delegation of the coalition government visited the residence of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi

The visiting dignitaries include Nazir Tarar, Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman while JUI Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, Maulana Attaul Haq, Kamran Murtaza and Dilawar Khan were also present.

During the meeting, political situation came under discussion. According to sources, the allies sought JUI support for the election of chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate .

President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned the Senate session on April 9. The Upper House of the Parliament will also elect chairman and deputy chairman.

According to a notification issued by the Senate secretariat, new chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate will be elected during the session.
