Imran Khan is using NSC to prolong premiership: Bilawal

Says PM has nothing to do with politics, he has been just going for political gimmicks to save himself from no-confidenc motion

April 1, 2022 07:41 PM

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto has said Prime Minister Imran Khan has been using the National Security Council to save himself from the no-confidence motion brought in by the joint opposition party, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

Addressing a press conference in the federal capital, the PPP chairperson warned that the NSC platform must not be used for personal interests.

Imran Khan has nothing to do with politics, Bilawal stressed, adding that he (Imran Khan) has been going for political gimmicks and abusing his power to prolong his premiership.

He said the opposition party was oblivious of his visit to Russia and the issue of the no-confidence motion was raised before the premier’s visit to Russia.

He reminded the PM Imran Khan of his (latter’s) lockdown of Islamabad and sit-in in the federal capital against ‘fraud’ voting in PM Nawaz Sharif’s election into power.

Bilawal recalled the sit-in staged by the PTI party chief that according to him made the Chinese president put off his visit to Pakistan.

He said he paid visits to America during President Donald Trump’s rule and made himself mini-Trump,

The PPP chief mentioned the premier's cry for a phone call from President Joe Biden.

The PTI government has the weakest foreign policy and the poorest representation of Pakistan in the international comity of nations.

He said the opposition has been exercising its constitutional and democratic right to oust an incompetent PM.

He said the sitting premier has been telling a lie to the nation since he joined politics.

Now, the people and opposition party got to know about the premier's agenda, the PPP head said, adding that his and Imran khan’s clash will end after the success of the no-confidence motion.

He said he wanted democracy strengthened as the PPP has nothing to do with a person.

He insisted the premier must not tell lies to the nation. He said running state affairs is all the way different from playing cricket.

He said first the premier called the no-confidence motion against him a gift and then he called it an international conspiracy against him.

He said the opposition did not know about the premier’s visit to Russia. The motion issue was raised before the premier’s visit to Russia.

He listed the feat of the foreign policy devised by the PPP rule under President Asif Ali Zardari.

Imran khan has a history of making the state organs controversial so that he could use such platforms to save himself from the no-confidence motion

Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto presided over an emergency meeting of his party. Key members of the PPP, including ex-PM Yousuf Raza Gilani, former premier Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nayyar Bukhari, Sherry Rehman, Faisal Karim Kundi, Shazia Murree, Chaudhry Manzoor, Khurshid Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira participated in the meeting.

The moot mulled over the political situation and the strategy related to the no-confidence motion and the developments in wake of Imran Khan’s claims to have been a victim of an international plot.

The meeting ended up with key assignments for the core PPP leaders.
