April 1, 2023 10:01 PM

The Punjab government has finally given the go ahead to Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to start the much-awaited construction work at Shahdara Chowk flyovers, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

Before the construction of the project, TIPPA, a wing of LDA finalized the traffic advisory and alternative traffic plan with the assistance of traffic police.

Now, the Lahore Traffic Police issued a detailed traffic plan for the Shahdara Flyover construction in order to maintain the flow of traffic in the city and avoid any inconvenience to commuters.

The Shahdara Chowk will be closed to all kinds of traffic from Saturday night onward.

Heavy, slow-moving traffic and commercial vehicles coming from Kala Shah Kaku and Kala Khatai can enter Lahore via Eastern Bypass / Motorway.

Meanwhile, Saggian can be used by traffic coming from Faisalabad and Sheikhupura. There will be a diversion of all heavy vehicles coming from Begum Kot Chowk and Kala Shah Kaku.

LDA expresses regrets for the inconvenience to the citizens in advance.

Citizens are requested to use Motorway/Ring Road to go to Gujranwala/Sialkot.

Likewise, they are requested to use the Motorway/Ring Road and Saggian Bypass to reach Sheikhupura.

The citizens are advised to use Motorway/Ring Road and Saggian Bypass to reach Lahore city.

Local traffic should use the Shahdara distributary, Bara Dari, and Kalakhatai roads.

The officials requested all commuters to follow the traffic plan during the construction of the Shahdara Flyover in order to avoid traffic jams and inconvenience.

The completion of the flyover will help improve the flow of traffic in the area. The construction of Shahdara flyovers will permanently solve the traffic problems in Shahdara Chowk.
